Activism

It shouldn’t be this hard.

In this divided society of Red and Blue, artists see that there are so many other shades and colors, beliefs, and experiences. Art can open up your eyes, open up your mind. Murals have powerful voices. I believe in Peaceful Protests and Rallies. People make  calls, email, write, vote, visit their representatives, make art. Engaging in your community will make a difference.

Patriotism is more than flag waving, it happens when we work together.

Sign making, letter writing, phone banks all help to connect people to the issues that are important to them.

World Peace begins with sharing food.

World Peace begins with sharing resources.

World Peace begins with protecting Nature.

You meet caring people when you step outside to show you care.

The word ‘Because’ gives an opportunity to learn, ie: I am angry because…/ I am grateful because…/ I help others because…

What if others did not need your help because… they weren’t poor or hungry or homeless or abused?

Two wrongs have never made a right. Violence hurts the innocent.

Corporations are not people. Come on.

“If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn’t thinking.” General George S. Patton

“We will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” Martin Luther King Jr

Listening to Winona LaDuke at a hearing about the controversial PolyMet mines in Minnesota. Water Protection is paramount. Stand up for what is right, especially if you’re the only one standing. Listen to people who love the land, sky and waters.

No one can stop the future. It’s beautiful. It’s full of sunlight.

Artists are cultural First Responders.

When events startle society artists process them with swift visionary empathy. The murder of Mr George Floyd aroused artist Peyton Scott Russell to paint the portrait that stopped the world with its graceful tragic beauty. The tears that  dripped tell the truth of long suffering from racial injustice.

Communities have seen a tsunami of artistic responses that bedazzle in their harmonic pleas for Justice, Honor, Respect, and Equity. People have been talking about speaking Truth to Power for a long, long time.
