Minneapolis born artist C. Ruth Mason finds cogent patterns in nature, technology and design inspiring latest works. Once a Biomedical art student Mason’s path led to video art, television production, mural painting, and back to the studio to create original artworks. Mason taught media classes at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design after receiving a Fine Arts degree(BFA) there. Mason then worked in television and video production for over 15 years, receiving a regional Emmy, and a Public Affairs Consumer Education Award. Returning to studio arts in 2009 Mason taught classes and outreach programs for the Minnetonka Center for the Arts for 8 years, that often involved large scale murals and public artworks. Mason was contracted to produce several murals for the Solar Research Laboratory at the Mechanical Engineering building of the University of Minnesota in 2014. Mason is currently working on a body of paintings that explore biodiversity, natural sciences, dynamic design and ecological consciousness.
